Right now, we are going on 5 straight days of no nap. I'd like to chronicle what happens during these non-nap times.
I put Edie down for a nap & then....
What I do:
1) eat my lunch, sitting down.
2) laundry
3) dishes
4) straighten up the living room from tornado Edie.
5) watch the baby monitor
(And today, write this blog post)
What Edie does:
1) yell from her bed that she "needs" water/juice
2) take off clothes (it doesn't matter what she is wearing - pajamas, play clothes, Etc). They are coming off.
3) yell "mommmmmy! I have to go potty!!!" (I'm not heartless, I go take her to the bathroom...where she does a lot of laughing, but not a lot of peeing). She does this no less than 3 times per "nap".
4) get mad when I take her back to bed & throws her bedding & stuffed animal out of the crib in protest.
5) get sad when she throws all her stuff out of the bed and then can't get it back in.
6) kick the wall through the slats in her crib
7) sing
8) lay very still for 6 minutes to make me think she's asleep. But then jump up and start running back & forth in her crib.
9) bite her crib. Yes, that's right. Bite.
I'll likely have to throw it away bc it looks so terrible.
10) try to put her clothes back on herself. Get frustrated about putting clothes on backward/inside out. cry as a result.
At this point, 2 hours have passed. My limit is 2 hours. If she hasn't gone to sleep in 2 hours, then she isn't going to...so, I go in & get her out of the bed.
Notice in the list of "what Edie does", I did not mention: SLEEP.
I have tried different tactics. Change bed time (earlier & later), go through a specific routine, sing songs/Rock her before putting her down, ....today, I gave her a bath before bed, thinking that would "calm" her & make her sleep. This kid is a machine. A non-sleeping machine.
